There is a Matrikon Licensing Error in my Application Event Logs. Is there a problem?

Upon installation, your MatrikonOPC Product will check for the presence of a global software license. This license would allow any software provided by MatrikonOPC to be run on the system.

In general, users will purchase specific software licenses. An error will then be generated in the event log stating that global licensing has failed and it will be necessary to use standard licensing, as follows:

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( MTK SoftLicense ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: A software licensing error occured in softlic.c at line 536. , An error [6] occured reading the Matrikon global authorization file. Since it cannot authorize using this method, it will attempt standard authorization. Contact the Support group for further assistance.

You may also see this message refer to other lines in softlic.c , for example: 318

This is expected functionality of our licensing library and does not indicate a problem with the licensing of your software.

This is resolved by updating the MTKAuthorize.exe file to the current version.
